What they do

Peer CARE Companion Warmline is a suicide prevention call-back service providing a safe place for people with a lived experience of suicide to connect with others with a similar lived experience.

They can assist in providing relief from emotional distress, explore coping strategies, and help you find additional online resources and information.

You can call them on 1800 77 7377 24/7.

Peer CARE Companion Warmline does not provide crisis intervention or counselling services. If you're in crisis, we are here for you. Our friendly Crisis Supporters will listen to you and offer support. If your life is in danger, call 000.

Who they're for

They provide support for anyone over 18 years old who has lost someone to suicide, are caring for a loved one in crisis, have survived an attempt, or have been living with suicidal thoughts.

How they help

They connect you with one of the Peer CARE Companions and provide an opportunity to be heard and understood by another person with a shared experience.

What happens when you call

When you call, you'll be asked to leave a message with specific details, such as:

  • Your name
  • Your postcode
  • Your preferred phone contact number
  • The nature of lived experience you would like the Peer CARE Companion to have - whether you would like to speak to someone who has experienced suicidal thoughts, survived an attempt, cared for someone through crisis, or is bereaved by suicide.

Their Peer CARE Companion Coordinator will then allocate a Peer CARE Companion best suited to your request. The Peer CARE Companion will call you back within 48 hours to arrange a mutual time for you to have a conversation.
