What they do

Blue Knot provides information and support for anyone affected by complex trauma*.

The Blue Knot Helpline and Redress Service can connect you with a specialised trauma counsellor to access:

  • Short-term counselling support
  • Information
  • Referrals for ongoing support
  • Information about the National Redress Scheme
  • Support with redress applications.

*Complex trauma is repeated, ongoing, and often extreme trauma that happens between people (often called interpersonal trauma). This includes violence, abuse, neglect or exploitation experienced as a child, young person and adult.

Blue Knot provides support for:

  • Adult survivors of childhood trauma including abuse
  • Partners, family members, friends, and supporters of survivors
  • Professionals and service personnel supporting survivors.

How to contact

You can contact the Blue Knot Helpline and Redress Support Service between 9am and 5pm AEST/AEDT, 7 days a week via:

If you need support in another language, you can use the free Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450.

If you are deaf or have a hearing or speech impairment, you can use the National Relay Service on 133 677.

  • What happens when you call the Blue Knot Helpline?
    • If you call and they can't answer your call straight away, it will go to voicemail
    • You can choose to leave a message or not. If you choose to leave a message, please leave your area code
    • If you leave a message, a counsellor will return your call as soon as possible.
    • If they can't reach you, they will leave a message on your voicemail
    • Calls from the Helpline and Redress Support Service to you will show as blocked calls
    • All calls out of hours will be returned during normal operating hours.
