What they do

TIACS (This Is A Conversation Starter) offers free and confidential professional counselling sessions through phone and text to truckies, tradies, blue collar workers and those that care about them.

They can help with things like stress, work issues, relationships, wellbeing, and mental health challenges like depression and anxiety.

Here's how it works:

  • Step 1: Text or call 0488 846 988
  • Step 2: Connect with an intake counsellor who will get you started. It’s okay if it’s hard to open up at first. You can go at your own pace.
  • Step 3: If ongoing support feels right for you, your intake counsellor will match you with a TIACS counsellor for up to eight sessions.

Who they're for

TIACS supports people working in Australia’s blue-collar industries, as well as the family members, friends, and carers who walk alongside them.

What is ‘blue collar’? ‘Blue collar’ generally refers to jobs involving manual or physical work, including:

  • Construction
  • Agriculture, forestry, and fishing
  • Mining
  • Manufacturing
  • Electricity, gas, water, and waste services
  • Transport, postal, and warehousing.

Not sure if you fit this category? That’s okay. TIACS won’t turn you away. You might still be able to access sessions or be offered resources to help connect you with the right support.

TIACS does not provide crisis support.

If you need to speak with someone right now, you can connect with a Lifeline crisis supporter 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via 13 11 14, text, and chat. We're here to listen to whatever it is you're going through. Remember, you don't have to face this alone.
