What they do
Eating Disorders Families Australia (EDFA) offers a range of free information, resources, and services to friends, families, and carers of individuals experiencing eating challenges or an eating disorder (ED).
Through EDFA, you can access:
- Online facilitated support groups: EDFA runs different types of carer support groups such as:
- General support groups
- Diagnosis-specific Support Groups (Carers of someone diagnosed with bulimia, binge eating, ARFID or SEED)
- Carer-specific support groups (Males, siblings, grandparents, and new carers)
- One-to-one counselling: Delivered by Fill the Gap, carers aged 10+ can access unlimited counselling with professionals with personal experience in caring for someone with an ED.
- EDFA's Forum: EDFA’s Facebook forum offers a safe, confidential, and comfortable space for adult carers of an individual with an ED.
- Resource library: On the EDFA website, you can access a variety of materials including carer stories, articles, guides, reading lists, and podcasts, to support you in your caring role. (A low-cost membership option is available for additional resources.)
- Strong Enough Podcast: Episodes feature people with lived experience bravely sharing their biggest challenges and successes in the caring journey. Listen here.

This includes parents, partners, siblings, grandparents, friends, and colleagues seeking guidance and support in their caregiving roles.
